Why Do Metrics Matter  

Much has been written regarding benchmarks for different areas of an Optometric practice. Many ODs do not enjoy looking at or evaluating these measures. Regardless if you are a multi-location office or single location it is impossible to create change without measuring. You cannot change what you do not measure. Pick the metrics that are important to you, but start with a few. Designate a team member who is charge of that metric and establish a specific time frame by which these metrics will be measured and reported. When these metrics are out of line or unacceptable, work with your team to come up with ideas to create change.

4) When metrics are in line, how do you celebrate?
